AEGIS is a European Surgical Society dedicated to the provision of educational resource throughout the years of surgical training from medical student to independent practice.
Introductory statement
The Association of European Gastrointestinal Surgery (AEGIS) has developed from the EFISDS, which was a founder member of the UEG. We have been developing and delivering surgical education for over 30 years. Over the past decade we have been focused on advanced postgraduate education and we host annual conferences in colorectal and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery in London, Lyon and Cluj-Napoca which will recommence following the current restrictions. Our site hosts an archive of talks in these disciplines, freely available to registered affiliates(?).
The association will increasingly focus on early years trainees and our vision is to deliver high quality educational material to this audience through efficient and accessible content. We recognise that junior colleagues can be overlooked within the existing model of training and see great opportunities to improve this provision through inclusion and innovation.
